Because of her ministry service, she was awarded honorary Doctor of Humane Letters and Doctor of Divinity degrees from A.L. Because of people gravitating to her ministry within the United States and on foreign soil, Mother Stacks' calling as an apostle has been evident. In addition, she's known for hosting Daughter of Zion Conferences. Her ministry consists of intercessory, fasting, laying hands, and teaching holiness. In addition to pastoring Shalom Fellowship International, Mother Stacks was the overseer of This Is Shalom in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She served as the senior pastor of this church until God called her home in 2021. Stacks was called home to be with with Lord in 2001. Mother Stacks, the sister of actor and comedian John Witherspoon, took on the pastorate of Shalom Fellowship International (the former Shalom Temple Ministries) in Detroit, Michigan after her husband Bishop Jesse T. In 1985, God blessed Bishop Stacks to acquire the former Fourteenth Avenue AME Church in Detroit. Various preachers including Bishop Stacks' daughter Pastor Tamara Bennett, Bishop Marvin Winana, and Prophetess Juanita Bynum have deep roots in Shalom Temple. In 1976, God led Bishop Stacks to establish Zion Temple Congregational Church in Detroit.ĭuring his trip to Jerusalem, God told him to rename the church as Shalom Temple Ministries. He served as senior pastor of Zion Congregation COGIC in Detroit, Michigan from 1967 to 1976. Bishop Stacks, an Army veteran in the Korean War, was ordained as an elder within the Church Of God In Christ denomination.
